Genomic Tools :: A Communal Stock of Isoclonal Lines of Daphnia

Project director: Jeff Dudycha

The objectives of the Daphnia Stock Center is to provide standard research material for a wide range of utilities, including allele diagnoses in allozyme and DNA fingerprinting assays, comparative genomics and functional assays, systematic study, and QTL analyses. For instance, the Center is a repository of clones used in genetic mapping studies, whose marker-alleles are already genotyped. From these, preliminary QTL analyses can be conducted by simply scoring variation for a phenotype of interest and tracking its co-segregation with marker-alleles. There is also need to have type specimens in culture from all members of the genus. For these, we request samples from all members of the DGC when they become available. The Stock Center is currently housed at Indiana University. A list of current holdings and the request forms will be found at wFleaBase in Summer 2004.
